Physical Mind Fitness and Lifestyle: Newsletter #1
The Physical Mind fitness, wellness, and lifestyle coaching
January 2005

Greetings,

Welcome to the first issue of The Physical Mind! I hope we can explore many facets of the fitness, wellness, and "mind-body" plane together: "Having mind[fulness] for the body". I hope to make you think, try new things, look farther than ever before - to make our moments extraordinary.

If you have suggestions or comments, please send them along via the email address at the bottom of this page. The same email address is also on the Physical Mind website. . . . on the same note, if you have comments and want to pass the newsletter to friends, please use the "forwarding" feature also listed at the bottom of the page. I look forward to your thoughts and creating a community with you.

  • Train your body while working or relaxing!

Continue your fitness training while sitting at your desk or watching television! "Stability balls" used as chairs mightily (but gently) work the muscles of your abs, back, legs, AND glutes -- while correcting the posture problems of hunching over your computer or in chairs. No isolated exercises - this is all-over training and conditioning!

A new spin on the same ol' resolutions

Before you can tackle your resolutions, you need to truly assess your old ways: "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it". Consider not only new ways to see the future, but also a fresher, calmer, more spiritual way to view the past.

Confessions of a [former] feng shui skeptic

I admit - I can can "poo-poo" something with the best of them. And alternative 'therapies' certainly come slowly to me, your humble narrator. Read as the wandering path leads to a surprising place, a place where mind/body really DOES meet: arranging your home or office to make you feel better, stronger, even more peaceful or more energetic.

    Recipes... that anyone can do!

Think that you don't have enough time to cook, or want to get the most nutrition from your food? Investigate the recipes here . . . starting with protein oatmeal!

    Next newsletter...

Features 'in the works' for next newsletter: "Yoga For Bodybuilders", "The secret brain-chemistry medicine of omega-3's", and "Books to rock your world" . . .

"Top 10 excuses for falling off the diet/fitness wagon"

According to a survey conducted by the online diet website EDiets.com, here are the top reasons why dieters give up the fight. I devised my own answers to the excuses. I hope they help.

E-book on fitness role models being released!

The highly-anticipated e-book, "Fit Over 40: Role Models for Excellence At Any Age" brings together over 50 people who have surmounted incredible physical, emotional, and/or situational odds to be fit and healthy.

If you have been struggling with the last 10 pounds, read about the people who struggled with their first 100 pounds, or the loss of use of legs, or even open-heart surgery. They share how they think, eat, and train!
